Questions We Get a Lot

Far infrared saunas use longer-wavelength infrared light that warms the body directly rather than heating the surrounding air, which is why they operate at lower ambient temperatures than traditional steam saunas. Near infrared wavelengths are shorter and primarily affect the surface layers of the skin. The saunas in this collection are far infrared, designed for a gentler, lower-temperature session that most people find easier to sit through for a full duration.

Each sauna in this collection lists its assembled dimensions on the product page, so we recommend measuring your intended room before purchasing and leaving a few inches of clearance on all sides for air circulation and assembly access. Most 1-person models fit comfortably in a spare bedroom, basement, or home gym corner, while 2-3 person corner units need a dedicated corner space with a level floor. Assembly is handled by you at home using the included hardware and instructions.

Most users find 20 to 45 minutes per session to be a comfortable range, though session length is a personal preference and can be adjusted using the digital control panel included with each unit. Starting with shorter sessions and gradually increasing over time is a common approach as you get used to the heat. We always recommend consulting your physician if you have any underlying health conditions before beginning regular sauna use.

Infrared saunas ship free on most orders within the Continental U.S. — please note this excludes Alaska and Hawaii. If you need to return a sauna, our 30-Day Return Policy applies; visit our Return Policy page for full eligibility details and next steps to initiate a return.

About Our Infrared Saunas

A home infrared sauna is a dedicated recovery space built directly into your living environment, designed to support rest and restoration after active days on the water or anywhere else life takes you. Unlike traditional steam saunas that heat the air around you, infrared models use carbon heating panels to warm the body more directly, allowing for lower ambient temperatures that most people find easier to maintain over a full session. They are a practical fit for anyone who wants a consistent, private space for winding down without leaving home. When choosing a home infrared sauna, consider the number of people who will use it at once, the available floor space in your home, and the features that matter most to your routine — things like seating comfort, control panel accessibility, audio connectivity, and lighting options. Construction material matters too: kiln-dried hemlock is widely used for its dimensional stability, resistance to warping in humid conditions, and clean, neutral scent. Low-EMF carbon heaters are worth prioritizing for anyone planning frequent, extended sessions. A well-chosen home sauna becomes a reliable part of the rhythm that sustains an active coastal lifestyle.
